Hi,
Sometimes when I click on the (de)maximize button of konsole window, my X-Server suddenly crashes. This is the relevant Xorg.0.log:
That rarely happens but it keeps me away from using konsole. FYI I am using KDE 4.9.5 with plasma-desktop span on a three monitors configuration thanks to FGLRX driver and I have these type of X-Server crashes since the release of KDE 4.8.

Sorry, but for such crashes you can only blame the driver.
Yes, other applications probably don't have this problem. Konsole is special, which exposes quite some hidden bugs. For example, there was a nvidia driver bug which made the whoe system slow/freeze only when you resizing konsole. See https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=227246. So you should report the problem to the driver verdor and hope it will get fixed. |

Just to note that the fglrx guys have finally managed to sort this out without the need to point them out on this, as per the release notes of Catalyst 13.1.
Sorry to have blamed konsole about this!

Hmm, still having the same crash with Catalyst 13.1 when switching to Konsole.

At the time of the previous post I didn't carefully try to reproduce it and I'm occasionally having this issue, yet. Doesn't seem that AMD devs really take care of that, though (and many other issues as well): http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=724 In the meantime I manged to replace konsole with yakuake.

I tried downgrading Catalyst and ended up with version 12.6. It required some patching in order to work with kernel 3.6, but I don't get any crashes with it.
