Hello,
I have almost no experience with KDE specific development. But I have something in mind and would like to know what actually is possible. Imagine an application that uses a KonsolePart to embed a terminal in it's gui. Now I want to be able to detach the running terminal and move it to a separate, standalone window. Preferably this window would be new a Konsole instance. So is it technically possible to start Konsole from an existing KonsolePart? If not, will I at least be able to move a KonsolePart to a new window within my application? Thanks in advance, Tobias |

It won't be possible to start Konsole from a given KonsolePart instance - at least not without losing the entire contents of backscroll, currently running application and the current working directory - it would effectively just be a new Konsole window.
However, I imagine you could have a separated window within your own application fairly easily - should just be a case of reparenting the widget which hosts the KonsolePart - although if you are using KXMLGUI this could potentially pose some problems still (It may not work at all).

Thank you. That was exactly the information I was looking for.
So I will try to open a new window in my application and reparent the KonsolePart. |
