On a fresh Arch Install I have uncommented in the /etc/locale.gen file the two language options:
I want to have my system in english, and so my /etc/locale.conf is LANG=en_DK.UTF-8 and my /etc/locale looks like this:
So far everything works, but when I am in Konsole I get this:
And all the other german stuff in terminal outputs, but not in the titlebar or the settings. When executing locale I get everything with de_DE.UTF-8 back. So I also changed the ~/bash.rc file with
Then locale gave me the wanted en_DK.UTF-8 back. But I still get the terminal output in german. Any idea, what the problem is? |

Do you have the ~/.config/plasma-locale-settings.sh ?
Does the file have the correct 'LANG' settings ? |

Hi, thx for reply! I do have this file and it had the wrong setting. I changed it now to:
But this does not help. Can you explain how and through which settings this file is generated? I saw, that the export LANGUAGE line is generated by System Settings -> Regional Settings -> Translations, but not where the LANG line is generated. |

By my knowledge the ~/.config/plasma-locale-settings.sh is made by the KDE System Settings : https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=337676 . The Arch forums has: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=184136 .
At here, after the edit of the ~/.config/plasma-locale-settings.sh I need to restart (log out/login) the KDE. Then the Konsole is using the wanted language. |

Great links! Thank you very much. The situation seems to be quite **** up to be honest. I tried now different things, and what I can say is that the LANG line is determined completely through the "Regional Settings -> Formats -> Region" selection in the drop down menu (which is to be honest a not so good design decision for such a big list). But instead of how it states only changing the "Formats" it also changes with this LANG variable the language in some parts of the system. And there are approx. 100 different languages in this drop down menu but not the en_DK to choose from, which would solve my problems, by using english language with German (European) formats. |

So I now learned by accident that my problem is related to this bugreport: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340982
