I am on a work system, so I am stuck with this old version of, KDE 3.5.4-30.el5.centos CentOS

I really want the new tab in Konsole to start in the same workdirectory as the current tab. I've discovered this is the default behavior in KDE 4, but I am hoping there is a way to mimic this in my version. Even the option "konsole --new-tab" doesn't seem to exist in my version.

I still haven't come up with a good solution and now that I know KDE 4 has it, it makes me more and more aggravated. There must be a way to backfill this feature into KDE 3.
