command in Command konsole profile

Mon May 29, 2017 3:22 am
Hi,

With gentoo and konsole-16.12.3 a profile with a Command containing a command call doesn't work, like :
Code: Select all
[Appearance]
Font=Monospace,9,-1,2,50,0,0,0,0,0

[Encoding Options]
DefaultEncoding=ISO-8859-15

[General]
Command=ssh -t myuser@$(ip_vm.sh) screen -R -S cored -D
Icon=preferences-web-browser-cookies
LocalTabTitleFormat=sshVM
Name=sshVM
Parent=FALLBACK/
RemoteTabTitleFormat=sshVM

I have to put the same command line in a script that I call in the Command= line.
Code: Select all
$ cat myscript
ssh -t myuser@$(ip_vm.sh) screen -R -S cored -D
$ grep "^Command=" myprofile.profile
Command=myscript

I can't understand why, because I'm sure that worked before (but I don't know at all with which konsole version).

I have Konsole 16.12.0 and Debian GNU/Linux 9.1 (stretch)

After some trial and error, I found:
Changing to a different profile does not invoke the command associated with it.
Going to Settings -> Manage Profiles, setting the profile as default and then opening a new tab does execute
the command; but this is not convenient as this alters the default when Konsole is next launched.

However, after Going to Settings -> Manage Profiles and defining a keystroke does work. That key stroke will now open a new tab and invoke the command.

I think it is time for me to start contributing to KDE documentation :)
