Hi there,

I was wondering if there was a way in Konsole to open my text editor in the same window that the terminal. Right now whenever I try to open Kate or emacs, a new window opens for the text editor.

Is there any way to change this?

Thanks

That's just the way that GUI text editors work. There are also myriad options for in-terminal editors including vim, nano and emacs (check the options, there should be a way to launch it without it opening a separate gui window).

Now, KDE apps also have a --geometry parameter that you can use to specify the geometry of the app window when launched. There should be a way to use that to launch the app to exactly overlay the konsole window if that is your preference.
