Is there anything I can do about that? The I-bar mouse is so small that I can't find it. Hitting CTRL-META to locate it has become tedious. I've tried different mouse themes, but Konsole seems to be overriding them to set a pointer size to match the text size.

Thanks!

An idea: Restart Konsole after changing the theme to see if it may be caching the cursors used. Another idea would be to try changing the font size used by Konsole to see if it is in fact forcing the cursor to match the font size.

Some of the cursor themes support multiple sizes. Did you try setting the size used on some of those to something other than Resolution Dependent (followed by restarting Konsole). Different themes use different images for the I-bar, many of which are practially invisible under the wrong circumstances (cursor vs konsole colors, or the cursor just being a single pixel wide).

I tried all of the above, and finally just gave up and switched to XFCE's terminal.
