In Konsole's tabs, the two shades of gray do not offer enough contrast for my tastes/eyes.

I've looked in Settings -> Configure Konsole and in various places in the sea of color/theme settings in System Settings, but I cannot find where to change Konsole's active tab color to something brighter.

Can someone whack me with a clue-bat? TIA.

Konsole's active tab colors are defined by the current Application Widget Style. The default style, Breeze, doesn't offer much in terms of customization, so you might try some of the other Widget Styles.

A couple in particular which offer high degrees of customization include: QtCurve which provides a configuration dialog that can be used to tweak all sorts of nuances of the look and feel of the them, and Kvantum which defers the styling to SVG-based themes you can download from the KDE store

Konsole allows you to use a stylesheet:

Konsole Settings > Configure > Use user-defined stylesheet

Code: Select all
QTabBar::tab:selected
{
    font-weight: bold;
    border-top: 3px solid red;
}
would help.
