Missing 'bel' in konsole terminfo

Fri Nov 29, 2019 11:47 am
I get nothing from
Code: Select all
$ infocmp konsole | grep bel

However, I can
Code: Select all
$ sleep 3; echo -e '\a'
and see an alert.

Is it a bug, a feature or am I missing something?

As far as I know, $TERM for Konsole is actually not konsole but xterm-256color. This seems to be done for compatibility reasons - allowing every system to work while still indicating that the terminal emulator supports more colors. If you do
Code: Select all
infocmp xterm-256color | grep bel
, you should see a result.

What are
Code: Select all
infocmp konsole
and
Code: Select all
infocmp konsole-256color
for?
