Hello guys, I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with my config file(s) in RHEL 7. I just launch Konsole from a script with:
konsole --profile ~./profiles/Shell.profile "$@" & The first tab uses the profile that I have chosen (Shell.profile), but if I click to open a new tab in the same window, I get a new tab with a different profile (the default one); I would like to get the new tab with the same profile as the main tab. I did make a script to validate each user and then put the profile name into the konsolerc (on DefaultProfile var) file according user needs, but this was not required in RHEL 6. Is there any way to apply a profile configuration to all the new tabs? can I include any argument into the command line to set a default profile? For example: konsole --set-as-default --profile ~./profiles/Shell.profile "$@" & Is there anythins else that I have to cross check in my system files? Thanks in advance and best regards |

Why don't you set this profile as default?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hello Mamarok, thank for replying to my concern. I'm trying to figure out how to add that option from the command line. This solution will be impacting multiple users, so I want to automate the process. Do you know if there is any option to set as default from the command line? Thanks! |

Not really my turf, but shouldn't you add this to /etc/skel/ ? See also https://userbase.kde.org/Tutorials/Modi ... re_Default
If you set it to default, you should be able to see the syntax in the configuration file, see also https://userbase.kde.org/index.php?titl ... tion_Files

Nope, it does not work. I don't know why in RHEL6 this is not required, but in RHEL 7 the konsole version does not respect the --profile setting in command line; when a new tab is open. |

So, this is with a recent version of kde, but the workaround I use is to add a keyboard shortcut to "clone-tab", which as the name implies clones the settings of the current tab.
I suspect this will work to do what you want to do. (and leave "new tab" to it's own function to open a default profile tab). Cheers! |

Hi!
You could use the kwriteconfig-tool to change the default profile

Hello gplsource,
Did you ever find a solution for this? I am having the same issue - Cloned/New Tabs does not honor the profile set when calling konsole. Regards, Dan |
