I'm trying to switch from gnome-terminal to konsole so that I can have the ability to easily search command output.
In konsole, I can create profiles, and they appear in the File menu. However when I restart konsole, the profiles are missing from the menu. Is there a way to load them all when konsole starts? I notice they are stored at ~/.kde/share/apps/konsole/*profile $ konsole --version Qt: 4.6.2 KDE Development Platform: 4.4.5 (KDE 4.4.5) Konsole: 2.4.5 I'm using gnome. |

In Konsole > Settings > Manage Profiles, do the profiles remain marked as "Show in Menu" after restarting Konsole?

I actually solved the problem before trying this by logging out of Gnome and back in. Now the saved profiles show up in the menu. So that problem is solved. Another small issue -- in Manage Profiles, I cannot get the "Move up" and "Move down" buttons to become active -- they remain dimmed no matter which profile I select. They are all marked "Show in Menu" (except "Shell"). thanks for your reply |

Hmm, On my Manage Profiles dialog, I do not have Move Up/Down. Can you provide a screenshot please?

For versions earlier than KDE SC 4.8, the states of "Show In Menu" might be lost if Konsole is running when user logging out. So if you haven't upgrade to KDE SC 4.8, that kind of loss just might happen occasinally.
There were once the Move Up/Down buttons in some old versions . They were removed later because the implemenation was broken(or never working?). |
