Right now if you want an alarm to use maximum system volume and unmute the system to ensure the alarm wakes you up, you have to use a command alarm with the following command, followed by a call to a music player: "amixer -D pulse set Master 100% unmute" This also means that the system volume isn't returned to where it was after the alarm is stopped. No alarm programs on Linux support this simple system volume setting functionality, and I'd love for Kalarm to be the first.

This is definitely something which would be useful. I looked into setting the system volume some time ago, but couldn't find any obvious way to do it which was independent of the system's software configuration. Perhaps this will change once KDE migrates to Qt 5 (I haven't investigated yet).
