Auth failure with telepathy-kde .

Mon Apr 23, 2012 11:35 pm
Arch repos have just been upgraded to the version 0.3.1-1.
( https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extr ... athy-meta/ )

And I find that ALL of my accounts are receiving authentication failures. (yahoo, facebook, Google talk).
I tried deleting them and creating new ones hoping that the change brought little incompatibilities.. but the same problem remains.
Is this version outdated ?
If not, anyone else experiencing this ?

Do you get any error while trying to connect?

Check you have a package called ktp-auth-handler installed.

Yes; though it is called "telepathy-kde-auth-handler" here.

The authentication is working right now.
It was probably that I did not do a reboot after the upgrade, that caused it.

I have this problem with Opensuse 11.2 x86_64. I installed the package ktp-auth-handler and ktp-auth-handler-lang.

When I put the information of my Gtalk account, it asks two times for the password but it doesn't connect.

Ok, we'll need some debug from you. Disconnect all accounts if you are connected, make sure there's no process "ktp-auth-handler" running, then run "kdebugdialog" and enable debug for "ktp-auth-handler". Then just locate the executable (it's in /usr/lib/kde4/libexec/ on kubuntu) and run it from terminal as

Code: Select all
/usr/lib/kde4/libexec/ktp-auth-handler --debug --persist

And post the output (you can use paste.kde.org if it's too long).

Thanks!

I didn't found ktp-auth-handler, however I found Telepathy-Qt and Telepathy-Qt4 and I enabled them. I also installed the packages ktp-auth-handler-debuginfo and ktp-auth-handler-debugsource.

When I execute the command (in OpenSuSE x86_64 is in lib64), the output is:

ktp-auth-handler(30644)/Telepathy-Qt: Client registered - busName: "org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Client.KTp.SASLHandler" objectPath: "/org/freedesktop/Telepathy/Client/KTp/SASLHandler" interfaces: ("org.freedesktop.Telepathy.Client.Handler")

And it doesn't show some window.

Best regards.

It won't show any window. This is a program that handles authentication with the telepathy backend, when everything is working correctly you won't even see it.

The start of that output was going well... we just need the rest of it!

After you've manually started the auth handler and are showing the debug, reconnect the account. You should then get lots of helpful output.

I think I find a solution to the problem.

If I active the Kwallet system, I can connect to Gtalk.

Cheers.

Turns out this was a bug.

Now fixed and will be in 0.4
