Many people seem to have all sorts of trouble with audio, but I'm not sure why. In any case, I need a debug log to see if there is something obvious going wrong (although I doubt it). To get a debug log, open a terminal and run:

$ G_MESSAGES_DEBUG=all /path/to/ktp-call-ui --debug --persist

and then make a call...

Do I need special packages with debug symbols or regular packages will work?

Nothing special is needed. Regular binaries will work.
