Hi folks, I am currently attempting to get KDE Telepathy, (0.7.0) up and running.

After the initial installation (kde-telepathy metapackage and telepathy-gabble), I have managed to configure my accounts and connect.

Unfortunately I am unable to add contacts.

The "Add New Contacts" dialogue asks for a 'screen name' and nothing more occurs.

The contact list opens briefly then shuts down again.

Any suggestions ideas are most welcome.

Are all libraries on your system up to date? Also, which version of KPeople are you using?
Finally - does running and setting up KDE Telepathy under a new user work properly?

Hmm interesting, I cannot find a reference to KPeople anywhere.

I performed an apt-get update then apt-get dist-upgrade prior to installing KDE Telepathy, so all libraries / packages are current for my distro.

I've done a Debian package search, and could not find a reference to a package called KPeople.

Could it been known as something else in Debian?

I set up a second account on my system and launched the contact list which did launch and prompted me to add an account.

Once the account was added and connected, the same problem occured as on my original account.

The package name should be "libkpeople" from what i'm aware. As all packages are up to date though it is unlikely this is the issue.
It sounds like the contact list is crashing - ie. we have a bug.

Can you try launching "ktp-contactlist" from a terminal and see if anything helpful is being output?

We've just released KTp 0.8.1. Please let us know if that fixes it.

It will probably take a few days for packagers to package it

Hi folks,

libkpeople is now available in Debian Sid, and I have it installed.

I have also upgraded to the latest available version of Kde Telepathy, via a recent dist-upgrade.

The output of attempting to launch ktp-contactlist indicated that the package telepathy-logger was not installed.

I have since installed telepathy logger and all is working well.

Thank you both for your input and advice.
