Hi,

I have extremely annoying problem, when I try to start new chat or someone messages me, all I get is blank window:
Image

The distro is KDE Neon with all updates installed.

How does one restart the IM side of things? I tried to kill telepathy processes, with no effect. How to completely kill the IM "green/grey guy" app from tray and start fresh?
This is becoming too microsoft like for my liking....

How does one ensure that multiple accounts are on-line? There is no way to tell if one account goes off-line, beyond missing contacts in the list. What about if I want to off-line one of the accounts?

I really started to despise the plasma chat widget. Is there a way to de-plasma-fy the chat application (ie stand alone)?
What I would like to have is when I click on the tray icon for IM, actual IM contact list to come up (like on pidgin).

Is there an alternative QT based chat app? Or should I just hide the IM plasma widget and use pidgin?

Here my solution:

1) apt-get install kopete
2) configure kopete
3) right click on arrow thing in system tray -> system tray settings -> un-tick instant messaging, then click on entries and set Kopete visibility to "Shown".

Now, figure out how to fix the "clipboard" app to actually show klipper and not castrated plasma window....
