svn version.
I got two popups which I really wish I could turn off. In my opinion they should not happen at all, but I agree some may want them so can they at least be made optional? Fist pop up is notification of tracker down that pops up 15 times! in just a few minutes because a tracker was difficult to reach. Do I really want to know that??? Second pop up is when the torrent finished. A dialog box pops up asking do I want to save the file. I click yes and nothing happens. Did the file actually get saved? If so, where?? The ktorrent setup does not have a entry to the dir to auto save files to and is even unchecked. |

What version are you running ?
I'll have to check this out when I get home. |

What version are you running ? [quote] Is there an easy way to tell which svn version I have besides the message that prints out as svn updates. I use a script to update and compile and lost the message. I updated the svn the day before this post. The popup was a modeless message that only appeared for a few seconds on top of another desktop I was working in when ktorrent was downloading in another desktop. My desire is to be able to let my brother visit and use my computer and not know what ktorrent is downloading |

OK, your using some version from svn. You should really register, things can get confusing with all these Guests posting stuff.
This only happens when none of the trackers respond and you are currently not connected to anyone for that torrent. Basicly KT only alerts you to this, because it can't get the download started, because none of the trackers are responding. If this happens KT will stop the download, I find this pretty usefull information.
You should get a dialog to select the directory to save the files. I just tested it here, it works. |

Hi all
Many may find it usefull, personally I don't as you find the information in the mainwindow. But that's another discussion. The problem at the moment is that it something wrong with the way it's handled. The situation now if you have a tracker not responding, you get the pop up and KT marks the download as stopped/error in the download line. But the pop up keeps popping up even after this, multiple times. Trying to end this with starting and stopping the download manually does not help. The status says stopped for some time, then changes to stopped/error and you get the pop up. It's rather annoying. As stated I'd prefer a slightly different approach to this issue anyway(Have used a few unstable trackers recently, having to manually restart downloads several times:-(). My personal preference for this would be someting like when no tracker responds, mark it as now with stopped/error tracker down(No pop up). And start/retry connecting to the trackers some time later(10 min perhaps). I think it's the way Azureus does it, just set the status to tracker down and retries later.
I had the same bug on a few days old svn, the version with wrong % on seeding. Haven't completed anything since updating yet, but I hope it works now:-) |

Most people do other stuff while the dowload is running, so if something goes wrong, it's logical that we try to alert those people without being to intrusive (which the passive popups do).
This is something we need to fix, it should only show the popup once.
Might not be a bad idea. OK, we will do it that way. |

This seems to be fixed now, thanks. Manual start and a immediate manual stop on a torrent with tracker down does not work correctly, it still shows the pop up once and change status from stopped to error/tracker down. (But it's not so important now, with only one pop up) Anyway it's always fun to update KTorrent, and see the pace of development. Great work. It even looks like it start to get some userbase. Recently I saw 5 out of 120 peers using KTorrent, a little geeky torrent but not linux related:-) |
