Problems with thepiratebay

Sun Oct 09, 2005 1:18 pm
Hi, when downloading torrents from www.thepiratebay.com, KTorrent reports that the tracker is down.
This is probably because piratebay has some sort of system that makes the tracker respond only every X minute, so that hammering don't work.
I see this when I'm using btdownloadcurses also. It reports a tracker timeout 4-5 times and then it gets a response.
The problem is; where btdownloadcurses tries and tries and tries, KTorrent (correct me if I'm wrong,) stops the download if the tracker is "down".
Could something be done to change this? F.ex an option "Retry connection X times"? :)

Yeah that tracker is annoying, you would think they made this somewhat more intelligent (i.e. send response if the tracker hasn't seen the PeerID before)

OK we will add an option like that.

Are you reffering to tracker.prq.to ??? This tracker is the most annoying one I've ever seen :)

Great! It's annoying, yes. But having an option like this eliminates the need for > 1 BitTorrent-client. Btw. KTorrent rocks! :)

It's fixed, we keep bugging the tracker untill the end of time.

Good to hear! I think perhaps a custom delay between each attempt is in order also :)

Probably, it's kind of annoying when you start up KT in debug mode.

Yes, and you wouldn't be blocked from the tracker because you hammer or anything like that :)
