good download ... no upload

Tue Nov 29, 2005 5:30 am
Hello,
I'm using an svn version of ktorrent checked out 2 days ago. I am noticing that my torrent is getting a good dl speed (60k ... the max on my connection), but essentially no uploads speed (upload speed is 0 the vast majority of the time, share ratio 0.06). Is this a bug in the algorithm or am i doing something wrong? I checked and it looks like my ports are opened correctly ... TCP and UDP port is set to 6881 and it is opened in the router.

PS. Wonderfull software! Especially the svn versions.

I just finished downloading the torrent ... upload speeds seem to have gone up immediately. It must be an issue of priorities?

There is a difference in choking between leeching and seeding. When you are leeching you will reward those who give you data, when you're seeding, you will reward those who are downloading from you.

We also get rid of all seeders when the download is finished, so all you got left are leechers.

I think we need a way of knowning when firewall is blocking connections. Is there something i should be looking for in the log or can we get an indicator?

Lack of Authentication(S) messages (the S is the important part)

Note, we have a UPnP plugin in the svn version, with that plugin you can see if the necessary ports are forwarded.

What exact does Authentication(S) means as opposed to plain Authentication?

Authentication(S) are incoming connections (somebody connects to you), normal Authentication messages indicate outgoing connections (you connect to somebody else)
