KTorrent was working with BitmeTV until today actually. Apparently they've placed it into banned clients list.

Their explanation is: "Reports bad stats to the tracker & does not identify itself uniquely".

I love this tracker too but their rules are very strict. I'm not sure there's much we could do at the moment. I think v1.2 (latest official) really has stats problem so we cannot complain :(
This issue is fixed now and all we can do is ask them to approve it after 1.3 release. Though I'm very interested in the other part - identification. I'm not sure what they need as 'unique' identification. Maybe they meant our RC or SVN versions?!

Isn't this stats problem caused by the change to session stats while not changing the user-agent some weeks ago? AFAIK most trackers do make profiles at these agents ot be able to detect, categorize problems and ban (a version of) a client. (we used the same agent for both ways until some time ago)

This unique identification would be the user-agent with a version number. SVN now does more than plain KTorrent, which is what they want for all clients/versions.
Also, my stats seem to be just fine on trackers.

I wonder if this bug has cropped up again. I am using openSuSE 10.2, and KTorrent 2.0.3 and cannot get anywhere with trackers like http://www.bithq.org/announce.php?passkey=3aaf...

I can download other torrents in KTorrent 2.0.3, and I can get downloads from the problem trackers using e.g. bitTornado.

If you want an account on bithq I can send you an invite. Or maybe you have another private passkey= torrent site to test against.

Also, DHT doesn't work there. Maybe these bugs belong to SuSE since you're probably on much newer versions now.

SuSE disabled DHT in its official packages, as far as I know.

OK, got your invitation and downloaded a torrent with the latest SVN version, the announce went fine, and KT started downloading.

I think you need to upgrade to 2.1.4

I found a SUSE package for ktorrent 2.1.4 using http://benjiweber.co.uk:8080/webpin/ I installed it and it is working great now!

I really should know better, to upgrade to the latest version before asking questions. I was new to linux and unsure where the problem might lay or where to find newer packages. Thanks for your help.
