Consumes >90% CPU over WLAN

Fri Dec 02, 2005 11:32 pm
Has anyone experienced this, too?

I use KTorrent 1.1 on KDE 3.4.2 (Vector Linux SOHO 5.1 Beta1)

With a connection over ethernet it work's fine.

The 90 % cpu consumption starts a few minutes after start,
and is reproducable with different torrents files.
This basically kills KTorrent ... I attached gdb and
it seems to be caught in some infinte loop.
I might investigate further if necessary.

Ahh. Ok I use rt2500usb over ndiswrapper.

Ok, this actually has nothing to do with WLANs. It's apparently a bug in 1.1. What you're going to need to do is download and compile the latest SVN version:

svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/ex ... k/ktorrent
cd ktorrent
svn co svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/branches ... mon/admin/
svn cat svn://anonsvn.kde.org/home/kde/trunk/ex ... kefile.cvs > Makefile.cvs

To compile it :
make -f Makefile.cvs
./configure
make

Yeah an old bug, It's really getting time for a 1.2rc1.

On the WLAN issue, the weird things is that I found and fixed this bug, after I bought my new computer, which uses WLAN to connect to the internet (my old one was directly connected to the cable modem).

It happened with a cable connection, too.

Only a lot less (two times before I got SVN Version running),
so i thought it was a wlan issue.

Thanx for this nice and clean app :)
