Dowload speed (chunks)

Fri Dec 09, 2005 6:18 am
If more than one chunk is assigned to the same peer the downloadspeed on the chunk-list shows the total speed of the peer at every chunk.

When a chunk has got more then one peer assigned to it, we calculate the speed by making a sum of the speed of all peers assigned to it.

Look at the "Chunks" tab.
Two chunks (rows) shows the same speed when the chunks are downloading from the same peer (all but one chunk should probably show zero)

But when several chunks are download from a single peer, the download speed for every chunk is equal to the total download speed of the peer.

Speeds are calculated by peer, not by chunk. If you want to calculate download speeds per chunk, good luck on doing that, but that's not going to be easy.

OK, but what should mean the "Down Speed" in the "Chunks" dialog?
It seems that it is meaningless.

Most of the time a peer is only assigned to one chunk, so it's accurate most of the time.

Not true in my experience. Usually there are two chunks from each peer. The one currently downloading & the one queued to download from that peer when the current one is done. Though this isn't a major issue, It does make the download speed confusing on this page.

You're right, I meant that in the opposite direction :

Most of the time a chunk has only one peer assigned to it.
