about the search plug in

I love this thing the most!
It will be just Great if you make the option to open search results in a seperate browser (such as Opera or Firefox) avaiable. Some websites are just no good to konqueror and it would be a handy feature.

Thank you for this great app! :)

We could add an item to the right click menu. But then we would have to detect other browsers installed, if there is some easy way of doing this in KDE, we will add it.

well,if you can make it execute the command

opera http://www.search.com/search?q=insertedinfoobar
or
firefox http://www.search.com/search?q=insertedinfoobar
(depending on the choice)...

The p2p app amule has the function to open search results to fetch a tiki or info about a file and there you can even choose either to open the result in a new tab or window.Heck, you can even use any other browser by browsing to its binary e.g. /usr/bin/otherbrowser ...
this shouldnt be so hard to do..but you know your stuff, you are the dev. :)

I know, but then we have people complaining that some odd browser from gnome (galeon, epiphany, whatever their browser of the day is ...)

Also not all people and people have all binaries in /usr/bin .

So I am hoping that KDE can provide me with a list of applications which can open test/html as a mimetype. Seeing that all this information is contained in desktop files, it should be possible.

I see.You have a point there. :)

But if its possible for the user himself to specify the directory where the exec file of the browser is... :?

Bah,nevermind. There are more important issues at hand. Thanks for giving this the time.

Why don't you do it the simple way, use the BROWSER environment variable. But default to Konqueror if that one is empty/not set. If someone complain, you can simply tell them to set their environment correctly:-)

Still it would be cooler to have something like konqueror's location menu, where all programs which can handle text/html are shown.
