Compile & run requirements?

Sat Jan 28, 2006 8:19 pm
What are the requirements for ktorrent (1.2rc2) to compile and run? Kdelibs is the only thing I can be relatively certain of, and I'd like to know the rest.

The reason I'm asking is because I'm writing a ktorrent spell for Source Mage GNU/Linux. (SMGL is a source-based distro, and compile & installation in SMGL is "casting spells".)

If you can produce a list of requirements (compile-time, runtime, optional stuff), it would also be good if this list would be visible in the FAQ. There can never be enough developers who also care for those dabbling in source-based stuff. :)

Thanks for ktorrent!

Hmmm, i had to install these packages on my kubuntu5.10 box until i could compile, but maybe it can be done with less:

# xlibs-dev
# kdelibs
# libqt3-headers
# libqt3-mt-dev
# kde-devel

That is probably it, other then KDE and Qt we do not need any other libraries, so this should be it :

- X11 headers
- Qt headers
- KDE headers
- autoconf/automake

SMGL doesn't have separate packages for executables and headers (like e.g. Debian has). Instead we use the original source packages offered by upstream developers. So I have to make sure one more time: On George's list, would the first three correspond to these source packages?

- xorg (or xfree86)
- qt-x11
- kdelibs

Yes that's about it, you also need automake & co to build, but they probably get installed by default on a source based distro.
