Many thanks for Version 1.2

Thanks to all the developers.

I wrote a while back with some problems on downlaod speed and memory usage I fixed both aprtially through restriction of the number of concurrent connections but it still wasn't perfect. I was planning to upgrade to 1.2_rc2 when my download finished but the final 1.2 release came before then

SInce the gentoo team made an ebuild for it I downloaded and installed it, stopped 1.2_rc1 and refired up the new version. These are my findings:

1) Instantaneous 4x increase in average download speed. Note that previously on the same torrent I often stopped and started it to solve the memory problem but never saw this sort of download speeds

2) No more memory leaks, KTorrent now only uses ~ 50MB of RAM, and stays there

I don't know what was wrong with 1.2_rc1 but many thanks to all the developers for the fixes to migrate to 1.2. It now works beautifully

1.2rc1 was a pretty buggy release, lots of last minute changes, usually introduce new bugs. 1.2rc2 and 1.2 final fixed many issues.

Yep, I agree. Initially, when I started using KTorrent, it was nowhere near as fast as Azureus I'd been using up until then. But it's come a long way since then and I'm quite happy with the download speeds I'm getting now. Now I can actually use my computer while downloading stuff :)

Keep it up.

Yep im giving 1.2 the 11 thumbs up, stable fast and works and doesnt consume system resources like Windows XP.

Sometimes in this age of high technology the best tool is a rock.
