Guys, have we decided what to do here?
Or should I change it to my preference so you can start complaining all over again? :D

- to polish current one with a 'cancel' button and one msgBox click less,
Sounds like the simplest and easiest solution too. Simply by making it less confusing than the current one:-)

- or make a thread that runs in background.
Perhaps a better solution from the technical side, and more fun to implement. But I'd say it's overkill, afterall how often do you install/update that list.

I'd vote for the first one, simple and easy is always good. And I think it mean less work for Ivan, letting him do more of the important stuff:-)

I think an added cancel button + Ivan's text will do for me.
I don't like the idea of a progress bar in the main view: i like a clean and
uncomplicated/easy in the eyes GUI. I also feel it doesn't belong there.

Making the downloading/converting procedure a background task so you can still use KTorrent would make it even better, but that's not so high priority and just a nice upgrade i think.

(i still can't get it why i have one box less here though)

me too

Mon Apr 17, 2006 7:14 am
me too i can see no change yet :-D

by the way when you cancel the download of antip2p.txt file you got a nasty and empty error dialog with no explanation.
may be no error dialog will be just fine ?

i vote too for the cancel button in the convert dialog ... the converting process running all by itself without clicking nothing. ( a little late for the vote )

Ah, guys I'm so sorry :)
I had 2 different patches made earlier. One with 'cancel' button, and the one without. I've committed the wrong one :)

I'll do that as soon as I get home.

It should be in trunk now.

I also fixed this:
by the way when you cancel the download of antip2p.txt file you got a nasty and empty error dialog with no explanation.

Also canceling either download or conversion will return the old files (if they were present).

Thanks Ivan.

PS. The site, forum and svntalk seems to have downtimes the last days.

what i would like

Wed Apr 19, 2006 8:43 am
hi,
what i would have liked to have in that dialog is only a cancel button and that the conversion is run automatically ..

well my opinion ...
especially the conversation seems to be closed on that subject ...

and i think the dialog 'do you to overwrite somefile.dat ' is not needed

/o\

I can't believe you're that much bothered with that dialog box.... :D

Ok you got me thinking again. I got one idea: I'll place a label in IPFilter config dialog showing the last update of filter file (reminding the user to update it from time to time), I'll change 'Download/Convert' button to 'Update' (or 'Import' if there's no filter present) so when the user clicks it the following process will commence - filter file will be downloaded and converted without user interaction ('cancel' button will be present). No dialog boxes whatsoever. I'll also talk to George to see if we could make ConfigurationDialog non-modal so you'll also be able to use KT during that process.

Thoughts?
