[NEW] Scheduler plugin

Sun Apr 16, 2006 6:01 pm
Scheduler plugin has just been added to SVN currently marked as experimental!

This plugin will probably be divided into 2 parts: Bandwidth Scheduler & Actions Scheduler. SVN version currently holds bandwidth scheduler.

Current version has not been tested thoroughly so please notify me if there's any unusual behavior (reply to this thread would be just fine). Now to explain the 'usual' behavior: You will have to define a schedule in preferences page. You can set 5 different categories for each hour for every day of week. BWS will be triggered every hour and it will set a category you have chosen for that hour. You can monitor the changes in LogViewer (output starts with "BWS:").

Note: GUI is not final!!! This seemed like the easiest solution to make a testing interface. It's usable but a little inconvenient if you have dense schedule. Any ideas for designing GUI are welcomed so feel free to state your ideas here. My idea is to create a table (hours/days) and create a button(color/image/anything_similar) for each category, so you can simply drag&drop any category wherever you want to set it. Offcourse, if you have any simpler ideas just shoot :)

kbuildsycoca and restart KT, sometimes plugins don't have a tendency to show up unless you run kbuildsycoca.

That will be included in the second part of this plugin "Actions scheduler" - as I mentioned.

Thanks George.
Kbuildsycoca complained about a database that wasn't there, but after a wipe and reinstall all was fine afterall. :)

It took me a while to realize how the scheduler plugin worked, but i like the 5 profiles. (much better than the utorrent scheduler which has only 3 bandwidth profiles)

I vote fot the table design with colors too(or .. percentage height of the box):
I think it would be the most comfortable way for the largest part of the users too. (i think i don't get what you meant with drag and drop, might be a nice idea)

It would be nice if we could mark(optional) the setting of a focus in the table change from "normal to another/back profile with keyboard strokes.
I know myself i hate to wait &click more than needed if i want to get the to the third setting in line, and this idea could fix that.

There even already is a reset schuduler button! :D
Good work Ivan.

PS. I haven't realy got the time the last days to test the plugin, sorry for that.

This is not a bad idea. I'll make sure I do that too.

It was bugfree for me, now trying the update...
EDIT
Oh, you made it a beauty :D

EDIT2
Some nice thinking don there with the way to select the boxes; with a left and right click to set, and the keyboard arrows for the last used key.

Even my idea to make it work with keyboard numbers is integrated. (although i like yours with last used key more ;) )

10+ to me.
