This is a minor issue (the torrents stalling at 99% is much more important...), but I still notice VERY ERRATIC speeds.

The torrents that I download always have plenty of seeders, and under the "other" OS using uTorrent, I can easily (and always) max-out my DSL 768-Kbps line, with no fluctuation in speeds at all.

With Ktorrent, the speeds are up and down. One moment fast, a few seconds later it may go all the way down to maybe 5K or 10K, then up to 30K, etc. Again, seeders are NOT an issue. So, the speed fluctuates wildly, but never seems to be able to maximize the connection. I have opened the proper ports in the Suse firewall, and have forwarded the proper ports in my NAT router. (By the way, the UPNP plugin does not see my router, either. Had to forward the router ports manually. Not a big deal, though ).

I do not believe my computer is a problem. The only application running at the same time is maybe firefox (not downloading anything except simple web pages, or often just sitting there doing nothing at all), and the PC is an Athlon64 3500 with 1GB ram. I do have the CPU usage setting in Ktorrent set to the lowest level, but I would think with an Athlon64 the low setting still should be sufficient, especially since I am not really doing any multitasking.

i got that feeling too. but i do not dare to tell about that.
i got download speed at 15k/s then sometimes it slows down almost to zero. then go up to 5k/s. it happens not within a few seconds but within minutes ..

and i have the feeling that i can download with a better download speed with say, bittorrent (official client) on the same box same OS same ...

EDIT:
you see this ?
Image

and you can see that download begins high at 50k/s with ktorrent but during the afternoon that speed decrease other time to 10 or even 5k/s.
and you see the jump of download speed when i switch to bittorrent up to 40k/s
i don't know if it is coincidence and chance but ...
i use svn 531188

The niceness system should improve that, but I haven't yet started on it.
