A little bit later then expected, but 2.0 beta1 is finally out.
Because of the amount of new features and improvements we decided to make it a beta instead of the usual release candidate followed by the final release. I would like to thank everybody who contributed to this release. Packages are available on the downloads page : http://ktorrent.org/index.php?page=downloads

Great, nice work!
Encountered a tiny bug tho, (not in the beta tarball, but svn yesterday) in the ip blocking dialog. The default filter file are set to www.bluetack.co.uk/config/splist.zip, missing a http:// in front making loading it fail. A little OT, did you see Aaron Seigo's blog yesterday, where he talks about KTorrent and the increased use of it he has noticed by looking at the peers list. http://aseigo.blogspot.com/2006/05/ktorrent.html Combined with the Country list it's kind of a cool way to look at the spread of KDE and KTorrent:-) |

I will fix it with my next commit.
I haven't seen that yet, lets hope 2.0 make KT more popular. |

I am amazed with ktorrent 2.0 beta 1!! I first tried ktorrent 1.1 (I think), but had some problems in OpenSuse 10 with CPU cycles going crazy, crashes, and whatnot. I *did* love the layout and useability of the program itself, though. I was disappointed and started using a different program, hoping that a newer version of ktorrent would come out soon.
So needless to say, I'm a very happy person now that ktorrent 2.0 beta 1 is on my system - running PERFECTLY for days now. And I never dreamed of getting the download speed that ktorrent gives me (must be the encryption, I think it was throttled or something by my isp)! I didn't want to start a whole new thread, so I thought I'd just add this to the end of the announcement: THANK YOU for the awesome program! |
