When I search for a term such as "D&D" with bittorrent.com, it thinks I only searched for "D" - but if I then use the form inside the search window (as opposed to the one beside KT's search button), then it's fine as it is escaped properly.

In other words, whatever gets typed in needs to be properly HTML-escaped. I imagine that Qt or KDE has a method somewhere for that, because last time I tried doing something similar in perl, I got it wrong (until I used a module someone else wrote).
