Terrible seeding speeds

Thu May 25, 2006 12:32 am
When downloading a torrent, my upload speeds seem to do well. However, once the torrent is completely downloaded, my upload speeds drop to near 0 and stay that way. Occasionally I will start uploading at around .5 kb/s or so, and then drop back down to 0. This is bad when downloading torrents from websites that track your upload/download ratio.

Currently, I use KTorrent to download, and use a different client to seed so that my ratio at least stays even.

I get the same problem with 2.0beta1

Upon initial testing of the issue, it seems peers are able to connect, but not to get any data from me while using ktorrent. That is to say they can see me on the torrent, but it is as if the port is blocked.

On same files and likely same peers, azureus has no trouble.

I tried with and without UPNP, DHT, and encryption in ktorrent. Yes, when disabling UPNP I opened the ports in my NAT router...

I have no problem here seeding, just started a torrent I had completed, it started seeding without any problems after a few minutes it had uploaded more then 3 MB.

I'm running the latest SVN version, a part from some bug fixes and the addition of the fast extensions, much hasn't changed, allthough the fast extensions made some changes in the uploading code.
