I just installed the 2.0 beta to see how it looks. It seems like the main issue has been fixed (that is, the bandwidth limits now works) but KTorrent now crashes extremely often.
I have KDE, Qt and KTorrent all built with debug turned on, but the stack trace doesn't show anything useful except that the crash is occurring from inside /lib/tls/libthread_db. Anyway, I decided to give up for a while and roll back to 1.2, and that's where I find the next issue -- 1.2 doesn't respond for a few minutes, and begins chewing up disk space. Looking inside one of the torrent directories, I can see:
The torrent in question is perhaps 200MB in size, but this temporary file is about to reach the 10GB mark! Good thing I caught it early, or it would have filled my entire hard drive. Looking in the logs:
Perhaps it should stop if the chunk number is 0. In any case, deleting current_chunks made 1.2 proceed as usual, I guess I lost a little data but not much.

v1.2 probably thought new chunks structure (introduced with 2.0beta1) was old one (<1.2) and started migration process which apparently screwed things up.
So, note to all users: be carefull when downgrading from 2.0beta1! As for the crashes, there's not much we can do without backtraces. We are working on some crashes other people experienced so hopefully enough your problems will be solved. |
