Bug?

Mon Jun 19, 2006 8:39 am
I created a torrent file and uploaded it to a private tracker, then downloaded and openned it (after removing the one automatically put in my upload list). I selected the directory I had the completed files in.

KTorrent reported I'd downloaded the entire filesize, but it stayed on the download tab, the download speed shown in the status tab was higher than could fit in the box (but it was zero in the list), and I didn't seed it (the tracker displayed me as a "leecher").

In the end I put the correct announce URL, re-uploaded the torrent, and let it automatically seed. It would be nice to be able to manually download and seed the torrent though.

Edit: I'm using 2.0beta1.

I'm pretty sure it is a bug, and is reporting incorrect data back to the tracker too, because the tracker now believes i've downloaded absurd amount of data and leaving it for 6 minutes (in hopes it was just checking the data) has made my overall ratio 0.0

Doesn't add up, if I import a completed torrent (any torrent for that matter). 0 gets reported for uploaded and downloaded data the first time you contact the tracker, then the next time you contact the tracker, the amount downloaded an uploaded since you first contacted it gets reported.

it is possible i tried a manual announce to see if that would fix it, which would likely be where the amount uploaded/downloaded was reported.

i dont know if this is important, but it was a directory w/3 files in, not individual files. when i tried to seed, i selected the parent directory to the directory i had chosen when making the torrent.

With single file torrents you select the file, with multi file torrents you select the toplevel directory to import. So in your case that would the directory you had chosen to make the torrent.

so, for example, the torrent i created contained a directory, with three files:

-torrentdirectory
--file_one
--file_two
--file_three

and on my filesystem:

parentdirectory
-torrentdirectory
--file_one (and so on)

When choosing the directory to open the new torrent I should have chosen "torrentdirectory" instead of "parentdirectory", correct? If I understand correctly, is it possible the problem I had occurs when the user chooses "parentdirectory" as I did?

You need to select the torrentdirectory. If you select the parentdirectory the missing files will be marked as do not download.

I should do some tests to see what happens in this situation.
