Uploaded 460MB in 0 seconds?

Thu Jul 06, 2006 11:02 pm
I'm using ktorrent 2.0beta1.

I'm a member of a private torrent site that is ratio-based. Today, I got labelled a "cheater" and got my upload stats reset to 0 (I had shared dozens of GB).

This is the PM that I got from the site mod:

The security script has singled you out and I'll tell you why..

Baltika just uploaded at 464.81 MB bytes/s (487391938 bytes (464.81 MB)) in 0 seconds.
On Torrent --filename removed--
Using ktorrent/2.0beta1 from xx.xxx.xxx.xx

(I removed the filename and ip info.)

Does anybody have any idea how this security script would think that 450+ MB would be uploaded in an instant?

I don't know if this is a bug or what. In fact, since I don't know exactly what the problem is, I could send one of you the torrent, but still wouldn't know which steps to take in order to make this happen again (it's the first time it's happened with me, and I've used ktorrent for a while now).

All I can think of is that it's somehow related to pausing the torrents. My wife pauses them every morning in order to make VOIP calls. Come to think of it, the power went out yesterday or the day before... could that have messed up the info that was sent to the tracker?

If anybody has any ideas, I'd love to hear them... I've got to explain this pretty well, or I lose weeks of upload stats... :(

I think it could have something todo with the power out, seeing that also client crashes on all populair clients sometimes messes up the stats significantly.

We have had bugs in reporting stats to the tracker, but those are fixed, and as far as I am aware there aren't any at the moment.
