problem: from seeding back to leeching

most time i download only parts of a multifile torrent and want to download the other files later, but at the moment, its just awkward to do that.

Normally, it should be able to enable downloading of a file in a partially downloaded torrent which is in the seeding queue and use 'download' to put this torrent back in the download list.

But with ktorrent there are 2 bugs/errors: first it still thinks that you want to seed the file and gives you an error that you are already reached the max. number of seeding torrents.

To get around that problem i have to put the torrent at the near top of the queue list for seeding torrents and increase max. seeders by 1 (i dont want to stop the other seeders temporary). Now the torrent gets moved to the download queue, but not really!

that is the second bug. If i decrease the number of max. seeders by one, the torrent, i moved to the download queue, stops.

To get it really to the download queue (and not just that it looks like that), i need to set it back to user controlled in the queue list and then back to queue.

so it would be better if the following happens:
- if you want to download a new file from a torrent, which already seeds, it should jump back to the download folder the instant you set the torrent back to download (if it is an active seeder, it should jump back to the download list, if you choose a file)
- it should be in queue/user mode (whatever it was before) but at the last place in the other queue (and really there)

i could not check it with the latest i got today, because the InfoWidgetPlugin is broken and i need to recheck that (version: 559441, error: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib64/kde3/ktinfowidgetplugin.so: undefined symbol: _ZN2kt10ShareRatioERKNS_12TorrentStatsE), but it works freaky for me since 1.2 up to the svn snapshot from last friday.

edit: i cleaned my system an checked the last version (559475) out. The infowidgetplugin looks like it works again and i will check out, if the problem still occurs. Think i can post something about it tomorrow, hopefully today.

Yeah i see your problem.
As it is now here (not where you found the problem):

All torrents as queuemanager driven, 8torrents of 7max in seeding tab, issue torrent on lowest priority:
Torrent is queue state-> mark file as download-> torrents goes to download state as soon as queuemanager triggers 7/7-> download completes-> torrent get lowest priority in queuemanager for seeding state.

But where you probably found the first problem:

7 torrents as queuemanager driven and seeding, 8torrent in seeding tab:
Torrent in queue driven-> mark file as download-> torrent keeps sitting in seeding tab (this is normal since all is triggered by QM)-> hit start on torrent-> bingo! popup message that there are already enough torrents running.

Your second problem is not clear to me though, i can't seem to reproduce it.

first problem:
- wanted files of multifile torrent downloaded (some not checked for later download)
- gets in queue (not user driven!) of seeder tab after complete
- select a file i want to download now
- want to start torrent
Message: cannot start more then x seeds.
Problem: But i dont want this torrent anymore to seed but to download, and not at the moment if the queue manager for seeds find out it needs to go to the download tab, but at the moment i want it.

second problem:
made the following weirdo thing to get the torrent above back to the download list, so i dont need to wait, until the seed queue finds out it needs to do that:
- put it at the x+1 place at the seeder queue (x is number of allowed seeds at one time)
- increase x by one
-> a message appears that torrent moved to download panel
-> now there are not n (n=number of max. allowed torrents downloaded) but n+1 active torrents in the download tab
- i decrease x by one
- the torrent gets queued in the download list
Problem: at the moment a torrent gets back from the seed-tab to download tab, it should only be affected by download settings and not seed settings, as above described.

This is difficult to be honest. :)
But you're right, this is a problem.

My though is a right click option (for uploading tab) "transfer torrent to download tab as QM" is a good solution, But let the devs read up on this, they might have a better idea.

PS. George, now i was playing a lot with DND-ing a file like 20 times, i noticed the local stats have problems to keep it up.

We need to move the torrent back to the download queue when this happens. I have noticed yesterday that there are some problems with the stats when we move torrents back and forth between download and seed status.

I'm looking at the authentication monitor crash at the moment, but after that I will fix this one.

The ShareRatio function was added yesterday, it seems you were trying to load newer plugins with an older version of KT.
