The Kubuntu package has a wrong package name ("ktorrent-2.0" instead of "ktorrent"), which causes that it conflicts with the previous package (ktorrent_2.0rc1-0ktorrent1_i386.deb). I tried to purge the previous version but that would have remove the kubuntu-desktop metapackage, too. (I did not found the maintainer's e-mail address neither in the package nor at this homepage, that's why I write here.)

No I didn't. It's stated "Thanks to Gareth Bowen" on downloads page, so I guess that's the person to contact.

Though, I guess we should contact Harrald Sitter from Kubuntu package team to make a proper package with post-install script to overwrite mimetype file.
