With Ktorrent : When I downloading CPU usage grows high, there are no seeding, no more than 5-10kb/S.
I read that uTorrent (my favorite torrent under Windows) work with Wine emulation under Linux and I try it. There are a little cpu usage and seeding is very good.

Most of the high CPU usage should be fixed.

High CPU usage.

Invincible, are you using the source package or the rpm from Guru?

The only problem with the Guru's package is that the speed limiter does not work consistanly. CPU usage is always less then 3% here running on SuSE 10.1 64-bit

That's a problem with many link and torrent in dl+seed...

if I have more that 5 torrent in dl with unlimited number of link the cpu will grow exponentialy...

Last time with 15 torrent I have go to a load of more that 11.0 on a x86 amd64 3200+ 512k + 1GB PC3200 (dual channel)
(even with 5s update and no info widget)

and only allowed bw to 30kB/s on 100kB/s avaible, with around 70kB/s realy used for all ktorrent

ps : maybe a feature to reduce (or limit to current) the number of link and cpu use if load grow over 5 may be usefull...

Since I didn't really want to start a new thread:
Is there any chance we see utorrent-style peer exchange introduced in the near future?

utorrent has gained hugely on popularity across the net and ktorrent in comparison no longer comes short of any major features. However, I noticed that utorrent gathers far more peers which I put down to its own non-standard implementation of peer exchange (working alongside regular DHT).

Don't get me wrong, DHT works fine for me, but I'm sure many would benefit if ktorrent were compatible with utorrent PEX.

Thanks for your effort on ktorrent.

We could add this at some point in the future. Don't know, so many feature requests, so little time ...

i've compiled ktorrent 2.1Dev-10-09-06 and use it for 2days now
the usability of it is superb and better than utorrent

but still on my machine, ktorrent still lose in download speed as compares to azureus.

and ktorrent even stalled many times while azureus just goes off and download with charm

i dont why ktorrent reacts as such that it will download at first then being snubbed flagged as snubbed by all eventually lose all the connected peers...

then the download stalled and nothing happend of many minutes.

i have a feeling other client refused to send to ktorrent...

for now i'll stick to azureus...

i will continue try build the weekly svn trunk and try it...

Keep on the great work KTORRENT Community.

I predict it will take over the torrent client on linux world in near future....

it is heading the right path...

all the praise to u all...

good luck

Strange thing, more people experienced this. I see snubbing too myself, sometimes even a lot, but it always continues to downloads fast here.

Maybe the value doesn't work nice when we have a lot of connections per torrent and only a few upload slots? Hmm, think i will do a small tests on that to see if this might be right.

i'm now downloading this stargate atlantis s3e09
http://www.mininova.org/get/425073

and it currently has 13661 peers and 1210 seeders

a moment ago it connected to 133 peers which eventually gone down to 70 peers

go to peers tab of that torrent shows that 70% of the connected peers snubbed shows YES

download speed not more than 4kbps but mostly between 0-2 kpbs from my observation

my DSL connection is 1024KBps download 512kbps upload

how about setting speed per torrent

utorrent does this very well but ktorrent only allows a global max speed

http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=134597

but even if i just select files i want to upload, it downloads outermost chunks AND NOT uploads at all.

so basically KTORRENT IS GOOD LEECHING CLIENT

gonna check if rtorrent supports proper (utorrent's) behaviour

I personally don't think so either, but could you explain your view a little more, please?
