It doesn't quite belong to this forum, but on the other hand it doesn't belong to "Help" either
I just did a small comparison of memory usage between BitTorrent clients, maybe someone will find it interesting. According to exmap (thanks to Lubos Lunak for finding this tool), which is said to show an accurate memory usage, results are as follows: ktorrent 2.0.2 (3 torrents loaded, not started, no plugins loaded) - 15 mb ktorrent 2.0.2 (3 torrents loaded, not started, few plugins loaded) - 18 mb ktorrent 2.0.2 (3 torrents loaded, started, some plugins loaded, memory usage set to medium) - 25 - 30 mb azureus 2.5.0.0 (freshly started, not tweaked anyhow, no torrents loaded, few plugins loaded) - 95 - 97 mb transmission-gtk 6.1 (no torrents loaded) - 10 mb |

I do have to say that ktorrent does very decently with regards to memory usage. CPU usage is decent as well. nothing compared to the dog azureus though... I have, 18 torrents loaded, some plugins, 6 are done, and 3 are seeding.
current stats from kpm list 5% cpu, 170 MB VmSize, 130 MB VmRSS * I'll add the exmap info once its installed... MUCH better than azureus's 300+MB mem usage Only thing I could ask for is download speeds that match azureus's |
