When I load the unloaded search plugin, the search tab interface duplicates in the active tab. Switching tabs brings back the actual interface. Its not a big problem, but it does hold up the GUI for 3-4 secs.

A simpler way of clearing the search page is much appreciated.

I am running v2.03

We've changed GUI to IDEAl style after v2.0.3 so I think this problem won't happen with current SVN version.

It doesn't quite belong here, but I don't want to create a new topic: namely, if I open a search tab in svn version, it widens whole window (i.e. the right border of the window, with minimize/maximize/close buttons, goes offscreen).

Yeah that's because the search tab on the side is a bit to wide, it's on my todo list. I was thinking about moving the search tab to the bottom.
