Ubuntu/Kubuntu SVN Snapshot debs

Fri Nov 03, 2006 11:15 pm
I'll be periodically making SVN snapshot debs available at http://buntudot.org/people/~jdong/ktorrent/

Dapper: http://buntudot.org/people/~jdong/ktorrent/svn-dapper/
Edgy: http://buntudot.org/people/~jdong/ktorrent/svn-edgy/
Feisty: http://buntudot.org/people/~jdong/ktorrent/svn-feisty/

You can also add them to /etc/apt/sources.list, like for example:
Code: Select all
deb http://buntudot.org/people/~jdong/ktorrent/svn-dapper/ ./

These packages are purposely unsigned so that they generate an additional warning message when you install them.

These are experimental in nature, and should be treated as experimental packages. I cannot accept responsibility for anything bad that happens to your computer while using these packages!

The packaging is derived from official Ubuntu 2.0.3 packaging scripts but with some patches dropped because they no longer apply to SVN. As a result, they should be safer/saner than checkinstalled packages.

These packages are built automatically by a script that I run once in a while. Usually my curiousity will force me to stay no more than a revision behind, but if I do get behind and there's significant bugfixes in svn (and you think a new package should be issued), don't hesitate to e-mail me.

Currently, only i386 debs are available because my primary machine is running i386 Ubuntu. I do at some point plan on providing amd64 debs, but I don't have any amd64's running 64-bit linux at the moment.

UPDATE: I've revamped my building system to use svn instead of Launchpad's bzr mirror. Took a bit more coding than with bzr mirroring, but it means no more launchpad lag.

As a part of this, the version numbers have changed to reflect svn revision numbers. The new numbering scheme is:

2.1~beta1+r123456 where 123456 is the svn revision number.

Do you think I could "borrow" your script?;)
I'm on amd64, on Feisty, and the SVN version of KTorrent would be really nice to have.

Here it is. It builds dapper and edgy debs via prevu.

Thanks a whole lot. And it's even in Python, my favourite;)

I have updated the svnbuild script to also build Feisty debs. I'm putting it through the motions right now and seeing if it will work out. Bear with me.... :)

Ok, I've refreshed the repository for Dapper, Edgy, and Feisty. Please test and let me know if it works for you!

seems to work well. The first thing I did was hit the close tab button when I had the uploads tab selected and crashed ktorrent;) Smooth upgrade in feisty from your 2.1.3 build though.

Thanks,

I'm going to affectionately blame that crash on George and Ivan ;-)

http://web.mit.edu/jdong/www/temp-ubuntu/ktorrent/

svn packages can be browsed from the above location. There are a few older builds archived....

Currently I'm not building any while one of my builders is out of service, and my hosting is flaky. I'll also have to update to the new svn building system :)
