Will ktorrent work under GNOME? Of course!
Will it be ported to KDE4...somewhere in the future but not at the moment. KDE4 is far, far away and KTorrent is improving more and more. So if they switch to the coming kdelibs with ktorrent 3, no official release will come for a long time, if there is no (semi) stable kde4 release. -> It is not really useful to port everything to the technical preview stuff at the moment. But I am not a ktorrent developer. |

You are right in the sense that it's too early to port it to a library which has not yet reached maturity.
However, and I'm sure ktorrent developers are well aware of that, porting it to kde 4 isn't exactly going to be a piece of cake but will require significant code changes. So when kde 4 reaches the release candidate stage I reckon it might be wise to start porting. Thumbs up for all your work on DHT; I'd like one day to definitely abandon wine+utorrent in favour of a truly native client. |

See that thread, where the future plans for KTorrent are kind of outlined. |

To be prepared for later porting, you can follow these instructions:
http://edu.kde.org/development/port2kde4.php It list some things one should care of in KDE3 code to make later porting easier and less work. For example, do not use QPtrList but QValueList, etc. |

grep QPtrList `find -name '*.h' `| wc -l returns 26, so we have some work to do |
