autoload from slow servers and error

Sat Nov 11, 2006 11:24 am
I have set up ktorrent 2.0.3 in a separate machine, and have exported a folder named torrents. I have set ktorrent to monitor that folder for any new .torrent files and start downloading immediately. That works fine when i copy .torrent files from my main desktop to the shared folder.

The problem is when i want to save .torrent files from a slow web server directly to that folder. The .torrent file download begins, it takes a couple of seconds to complete even 58kB and ktorrent complains immediately for the .torrent file being corrupted. If I try to save the same file again, ktorrent asks if I want to overwrite the existing file, I answer yes and everything proceeds to normally.

As I see it ktorrent tries to load a .torrent file as soon as the file is created in the file system, even if the file is not saved completely. Wouldn't it be better if there was a safety time for the file to be loaded? i.e. load the .torrent file 10 seconds after it has been created in the folder. Or even better, check first if another process is using the file, if not then proceed to load it.

This is known, Ivan was looking at it, I'm not quite sure what the status is on this issue. I will ask him.

As far as I can remember, I fixed this at the start of v2.1 development. Just to make sure, I'll check it out again and let you know.

Yep. This should be fixed in SVN version.
