"proper" rereleases translation

Tue Dec 19, 2006 11:02 pm
Hi,

What does "proper" rerelease means? Legal rereleases? Correct rereleases?

Are proper rereleases done by the owners of the original release?

Why is it quoted?

It's a string that appears in RSSpluggin. Thanks.

Afaik that would be a term for when they release a better version of an already released movie. ie. audio was out of sync.
I think there are more reasons for a proper, though i never looked into this deeply. Fact is that it is a used term out there.

It mainly means something was screwed up with the first release. If it is a movie rip it is usually done by the same group. If it is a TV release it will usually be a different group (as the original group has the bad copy).

Could be an audio glitch, bad video encoding, to something as small as a quick pause in the playback.

Usually if I have started a torrent and then they release a proper, I will finish downloading the first release and watch it. If it is something major I will download the proper, but most the time I keep the original. (It seems like most the time it is minor audio sync issues, but that is easily fixed with mplayer so I don't bother).
