Howdy, first off I just wanted to say thanks so much for all the hard work. I've written some very basic KDE programs via KDevelop and just the compile time for KTorrent shows how much more complicated and much more work you guys have put into this program. I love the GUI and the features, and just wish it was a bit faster and more agressive about pulling down data.
This gets to my problem. My DSL blocks pretty much all incoming connections (i.e. no ports are free), however, uTorrent under XP is capable of getting okay download speeds (40-70KB/s) which is comparable to the max my DSL can do for http (90KB/s). I know my DSL just sucks, but KTorrent on the same machine under Linux can only get about 25KB/s max (10-15 KB/s average), and frequently goes down to 0. Manual updates allow for the speed to go back up for awhile. This behavior is very bad under 2.0.3 (Debian Etch package). I downloaded the 2.1beta sources and compiled it manually, and while speeds are generally better, they still don't compare to the Windows speed. Basically, I just would like to report this behavior and see if anybody here had an explanation for this. Thanks in advance. |
