Hi,

I am using Ktorrent version 2.1rc1 (using the Kubuntu Edgy debs linked from ktorrent's homepage). Running "ktorrent --version" tells me it was compiled against Qt 3.3.6, and I'm using Edgy's default KDE 3.5.5.

Now, it crashes very often. We're talking several times a day here. I have saved a number of crash reports, which you guys are probably interested in having. My excuses if this forum is not the best place to post them, but I've seen plenty of other people doing the same.

The first one follows; I can also post the others if so you wish -- they seem to be slightly different.

P.S. On a more positive note, the 2.1rc1 version provides for much faster downloads than previous ktorrent versions. Congratulations guys!

I have the same problem, lots of crashes after I updated to rc1

Post the other traces, it seems to crash when the items in the GUI are sorted. I want to see if the others are similar.

Sometimes part of a "close tab" button appears in the top right, if i click it ktorrent crashes directly.

You're the second person that reports this most weird behavior with a part of "close" button in top right. I haven't seen this at all.

What are your Qt/KDE versions? Did you compile KT or used some binary package? What version?

Kubuntu 6.10 with KDE 3.5.5, Ktorrent 2.1RC1deb from your site. Don't know how to check qt-version...

I need to upgrade to edgy to see if I can reproduce this.

Wait a second, try unloading the widget, looking at the traces, that should get rid of the crashes.

Also, a thing you could try is, to do a full uninstall, and make sure that there are no plugins left from previous versions, and then do a reinstall.

Okay, here's what I've done:

I've removed the current ktorrent package: (I had to
remove kubuntu-desktop first because of dependencies).

I got rid of ktorrent configuration files for the current user:

I installed latest ktorrent: (and restored kubuntu-desktop)

The I started ktorrent and disabled all plugins (infowidget and search were the only
ones loaded by default anyway).

Now, I'll let you know how stable this is. If it runs for a long period without crashing,
I'll load the infowidget plugin again to see if that's the culprit...

I have not experienced any crashes like this, maybe you should try the latest weekly snapshot.

What tab do you have activated in the infowidget when it crashes? Do you leave KTorrent's window open, or do you minimize it to the tray?
