Invalid data from tracker

Sat Jan 13, 2007 12:48 am
Hello!

First of all I would like to say that I absolutely love ktorrent. It has easily become my favorite program to torrent.

However, I'm am having a strange problem after upgrading to the rc1 version. I have begun to get "Invalid data from tracker" on a private tracker that the old version used to work perfectly on. I am using kubuntu 6.06 and the rc1 version of ktorrent provided by the kubuntu deb package found on the downloads page.

Please let me know what additional information I can provide to help get this problem sorted out.

Post the relevant part of your log file so we can see what this tracker actually sends back. Or you can use ethereal/wireshark to check that out if it's not written to your log.

The last option would be to send us that torrent.

I'm sorry it took me so long to respond.

The administrator of the site I'm having the problem on says that the problem is caused by MultiViews being enabled on the apache server to make it more friendly for search engines and what not and that basically it's sending page/variable/variable/ but with multiviews directive enabled apache is reading it as sending page.php?variable&variable .

If you require additional information please let me know and I will do the best I can to help resolve this problem.

I have compared with azureus and I'm not seeing much fundamentally different in what KT sends.

To be honest, I'm not sure what the administrator's email address is, but I posted on the forum and will report back as soon as I have any more information.

" to get "Invalid data from tracker" "

I find 99% of the time when I see this error on private sites it's because of trying to access the tracker on a banned port such as 6881. Check your port settings.

I'm most certain that it's not my port(s). I chose the ports myself for that reason, but thanks for the suggestion.

It's the Accept field in the HTTP header, if I use the one azureus uses, it works. We send only text/plain (see http://ktorrent.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=898&start=15 second page of thread)

We have seen this before, if I'm not mistaken it was a misconfiguration somewhere with apache.
