more information through dcop

Mon Jan 15, 2007 10:36 am
After trying ktshell, I had some ideas. Is it possible to use dcop to find out the following information?
  1. location where files for a torrent is stored
With this, a shell script can maintain a symlink to downloaded file/folder for each seeding torrent, in effect emulating the requested feature of moving finished torrents into another directory. If the shell script can know KTorrent's cache file/directory for the torrent, it could actually move the files and recreate cache symlinks to point to the new location (maybe temporarily stopping the torrent will let KTorrent not "notice" this and complain).
  2. the age of the torrent
  3. total number of seeders and number of leechers for the torrent
Then we can write scripts to automatically stop torrents when they're old, or well enough seeded.

Maybe these tasks are more easily done with a KTorrent plugin, but writing a plugin is probably more time consuming than a shell script. Scripts would also provide more flexibility. But anyway, is there documentation for the plugin API?
