Gnutella/EDonkey plugin?

Fri Jan 19, 2007 2:58 am
When ever I'm on some one's Windows machine and I need to use something to download files I tend to use Shareaza because it connects to all the p2p networks I like and it supports bittorrent. Not to mention it's open sources.

My question is, would it be at all possible to make client plugins for p2p networks? The ones I would want are gnutella and edonkey. Right now I use Ktorrent, amule and giFT on openSUSE 10.2.

I'm just saying, it would be nice if ktorrent had client plugins for some networks. If you did do this, I might also suggest changing the name of ktorrent. As it would be a multi-protocole software, using ktorrent as the name wouldn't make much sense.

That's just my two cents.

Thanks for the awesome program. :D

With the way KTorrent is designed currently, I'm not sure it's possible to integrate client for another p2p network. I mean, it could be possible if you want to create a plugin that would have it own GUI (opened as another tab) and work on its own since not many KTorrent features would be useful to use from this plugin.

All in all, I don't think this would be a smart move.
