Incidentally, all those GUI changes lowered the memory usage.

Request

Is there any possibility of a plugin to modify how ktorrent identifies its self client wise (Azureus, uTorrent, etc...) with the tracker? There are a couple of sites I use that do not allow ktorrent and I hate using multiple torrent applications because someone is having a power trip. It would be helpful if you were able to choose/enter versions of the client you're "spoofing" as some sites also limit versions of torrent applications as well.

That would result in you getting banned for cheating and ktorrent being banned from every tracker.

Hello,
I love KTorrent, it is simply the best torrent client out there. But I hate new GUI in version 2.1. It is so much cluttered and have really bad usability (don't get me wrong, I am not some "usability fascist" like for example GNOME devs, I really like configurability of KDE, but that new KTorrent 2.1 GUI is IMHO really bad). Especially I don't like separate search toolbar, please can you add option for search tab (like in 2.0) instead of separate search toolbar?

Groups are great, but I would also like to have them in tabs if I want to (I really like separate tab for downloads and uploads).

But anyway thanks for your great work!

Don't worry, they've redone the gui again for 2.2+. Its quite slick I must say. It remembers its settings, and a ton of otherthings. :D

One thing I kind of wish for the new gui, is to make the left pane take up the entire left side, instead of being short as it is. It should be possible to even let the user configure the layout, I'm sure kdevelop does, and thats the code ktorrent is using now.

Well.... for starters this is already happening, or at least every tracker I use that is anal about clients is blocking ktorrent anyway. Secondly I'm not really seeing how this is "cheating" I'm not asking to falsely up my score I just want to be able to use whatever client I choose.

Adding the feature would get us around the ban, but I would rather prefer to not get banned at all.

I'm not seeing anything in KDevelops' settings to configure this. I think this depends on the order of adding things.

However, why do you want the left panel to be more important ? Most of the content of the panel is in the top of the panel, so it seems more logical to give the free space to the bottom panel.

Two reasons, one, I'm used to it that way, and I think its more natural to have the torrent info line up with the lists.

Another feature request:
What about an estimated upload time (when an upload ratio is set)?

We could just reuse the timeleft field when you are seeding.

Would it be possible to add a feature to automatically save the torrents to a folder, like there is for the downloaded data. I sometimes need to re-download after a while but have to hunt torrent sites for the torrents.
Thanks.

Hello

What i would like for future versions, is a diferent GUI.

With the new one used in version 2.1, i can't use the "group" feature. I use the info plugin, so, if i expand the "group" the ktorrent window is too large, larger than my screen.

I like azureus aproach: one part for uploads, one for downloads, and the posibility to see the details of each torrent via right click (i like clean windows for this type os programs) But this is ktorrent ;-)

A easier posiblity, maybe, would be making the "info" part littler, as now, is too large.

One last thing, before i post this: this has been an idea, an a particular opinion. I prefer things like now, altough they don't like me, but with the speed and RAM usage that you, devs, have obtain.

Bye

Have you tried the latest version of ktorrent? I'm not 100% sure if it has the new gui, if not, check the subversion code, and compile that. Its really quite nice.

Even without the "new" code, you can still resize and hide the group list.

Please add the option to auto switch upload speed depending if we are downloading or not, is a way to max the upload bandwitch since we have to limit it if we want to get good downloads.
utorrent, azureus and ABC have this feature (just a note if the devs want to see something similar)

Cheers and thanks for tis great client!
