Instead, how bout a new sticky thread? Where you can agregate all the doable/wanted requests?

I've got a new wish :)

The info that can be seen when hovering over the ktorrent icon in the system brick should be available somewhere else too. Total Transfer up/down.

Please, add to list:

23. WebUI must use an english units (size and speed) instead of localized ones for readability. (Described here)

It would be really nice to be able to auto group torrents based on tracker.
I.e in my case I would want to be able to tell ktorrent to group some private trackers I belong to together and put all other trackers in another group.

It would then be nice to be able to set per group restrictions, i.e upload/download limits and most importantly upload to ratios.

In my case I want to be able to upload to keep uploading on the private trackers until I stop manually, but to upload to only 1.0 on the non private trackers

As an afterthought, It would be nice to be able to set where each group of trackers' files are moved to automatically as well. and to be able to set the move to directory based on file type in torrent or majority of file type in torrent (ie if the content is 90 % mp3 move here, if it is 90 % movies move here)

Bug fixes!

Tue Apr 24, 2007 6:31 pm
I'd be more than happy if 2.2 is just more stable and solid than the previous version. Although I love Ktorrent, and use it almost exclusively, I really wish it was more stable. Features are great, and I'd certainly love to see some of the features mentioned here implemented, but they're of no use if the program itself is unstable.

Maybe 2.2 could be sort of like a 'long term' release, in spirit anyways, with an emphasis on reliability over new bells and whistles.

The instability has been fixed in 2.1.4 and this only started showing very recently.

The one feature I'm really missing right now is the ability to look at individual files (and preferably set their status, download first/last/normal, etc) in a torrent from within the WebGui.

It would be awesome if the torrent names were turned into links, that when you clicked opened a new page displaying general status and individual file information.

A couple things I'd like:

1. Proper Per torrent priority, as well as per file in batch torrents. In a "burst" sort of fashion. a low priority torrent can use as much as it likes while other higher priority torrents don't need much, but gets throttled back once others need more.

2. KNotify support with the standard "notifications dialog". This way I can make ktorrent send me emails or IMs on finished downloads :D (or other forms of notification).

I'd like to see an availability percentage instead of just the graphic bar similar to azureus.
I'd also like to be able to sort the search-engines manually instead of having them sorted alphabetically.
Current session stats would be nice as well, ie, up/down/nr.of.blocked.ips/connections/uptime/etc.

I'm not sure if this is already available in 2.1.4 or the svn, but I couldn't find an option to change the colours of Torrent Status (Seeding,Stalled,Downloading).
IMHO, it'd be nice if one was able to choose the colours or at least have Seeding and Downloading be different and not both green.
Also a counter for active torrents and active connections would be nice.

I'd like to have some more columns to choose from in ktorrentview.
Especially I like "seeders" and "leechers" instead of "peers".
This is done easily since the information is already contained in getStats() and since the columns are hideable, everyone should be happy. :)

Patch for two new columns "seeders" and "leechers" with azureus-like notation (i.e. "4 (5)" meaning "connected to 4 seeders out of 5"): http://seezer.roath.org/files/kde/ktorrent_seed_leech_columns.patch

Comments anyone?

How about information regarding individual files? Like time left, etc.
Also, for downloading TV-series (free, public domain ones of course), it would be nice if KTorrent would try to download the first ones first, if you know what I mean;) Download First/Normally/Last works, but it's not optimal.

Confirmed/Added/Will land for 2.2
1. When KTorrent was still using tabs, their labels showed the number of torrents in the current view. I really miss these counters. There are none present in KTorrent at the moment, right? Anyway at least a simple torrent counter (or perhaps some other statistics about the torrents in the selected group) would be cool.

2. Some usability improvements within the Groups functionality (and why is there only one button "Groups" in the most left side of main window, the space under could be used for some of the actual groups like Downloads and Uploads).

3. When you choose "File" tab you can see details of each file download. You have some info columns there and you can sort files by pressing column name. But Ktorrent does not remember sorting or column width.

4. Option to move completed torrents to user specified directory (on a per torrent basis) and of course continue seeding from the new place.

5. Add an option for selecting kTorrent to start minimized to tray or not.
When chosen to start in tray, as now - fix the annoying flicker, the window shows and then disappears for a fraction of a second.

6. Opportunity to seed read-only files.

Commented, but no info about development
7. It would be great if incomplete files had a special suffix, like .!kt, or something like that.

8. Speed graph to see how stable upload/download goes.

9. What about an estimated upload time (when an upload ratio is set)?

10. And about the shutdown - why not make the tray icon disappear immediately even if the communication with the trackers (or whatever) take some time - make it appear that the exit is instant - or maybe add a symbol to the tray icon showing that kTorrent is shutting down.

11. I would love to see some kind of a QOS priority for torrents.
Some torrents I would prefer to seed more then others, I would love if I could somehow set:
"If someone wants this torrent devote XYZ % of the max upload traffic, otherwise share everything else equally"

12. Faster upstart and shutdown (shutdown time seems to have increased from around 1 second in 2.0.3 to 10+ in 2.1)

13. Improved speed bars, with graphical style like amaroks track played time and using some average values for the last minutes or so. And also using the same bandwidth limits as used in global settings.

14. I run ktorrent on a box which I am usually away from, and hence I rarely if ever see the "file completed" dialog. I would like it very much if KT could send me an email when it finishes a downloading file.

Unseen/Uncommented
15. Add a "Default download directory" option instead of suggesting the latest used one.

16. Some of the settings need better explanation of what they do, for example Memory Usage, what exactly does it change and how will it affect me?

17. Improving the torrents list, Maybe each torrent could take up two lines much like the download manager in Firefox. My screen isn't wide enough to show all information horizontally but there is lot of space vertically even when downloading and seeding 15 torrents. Perhaps two different views?

18. Remove or redesign the way queue manager work, hard to understand and pretty "unsmart" - it needs to understand if all the active torrents are stalled and start downloading others.

19. Quick filter in KTorrent. When having lots and lots of torrents open.

20. A list or Manager where we can view the peers (IPs) which I have add to the session IP filter list

21. Column "PRIORITY" in main window that torrents can be sorted by that parameter too (priority is taken from QueueManager). Right now is possible to sort torrents by every other thing except they download order.

22.It would be very useful if KT could remember the last five or so announce URLs when creating torrents and display them in a drop-down menu under the input field.

Please update us on the status of ideas!

There was also a request made some time ago here that hasn't been commented on since George said he could implement it in 2.2.

"1) Display total time seeded on a torrent that does not reset with client closure.
2) have the option of stopping a torrent after x number of hours seeding after completion.

They could probably be both added to the Use limit fuction.

ie:

Use Limit Max Ratio: 2.00 or 72 hours."
